The Carters of Kings Langley
There was great excitement in Kings Langley and Chipperfield in 1977 when the genealogists of Debrett's Peerage traced the recently elected President Carter's ancestry back to a family of carters in Kings Langley. It was not until 1848 that Chipperfield became an ecclesiastical parish in its own right.
Shown above is the cover of a booklet published in the following year providing an account of notable Carter family members and those who emigrated to America.
It is then, perhaps, appropriate to introduce two Americans, Mr 'A' and Ms 'I' to review this booklet!
